Her Own Shadow The Story of a Werewolf Girl Wolves of the Birch Wood Book 1 eBook Ann Guillory
Teenage girl becomes werewolf, has to deal with family and school as well as mystery, action and intregue. Ok, it's probably been done before, but what makes this book really worth reading is that each of those elements works so well, and there are none of the really boring cliches that turn up in a lot of YA fiction (there's not even a hint of a love triangle, and the main character isn't a super special snowflake) The relationships with family and friends feel really genuine, the dialogue is great, and the werewolf stuff had me wanting to read on to find out what was going on.It's a bit gorey in places (werewolves!) so I wouldn't give it to my sister (who is nine) and it took me a little bit to work out it was set in England so that's why the school years are different, but I sort of liked that because I haven't read many books set there.
